BigFlippa reaches you by email, by text, or both, and you set that per Radar. How many alerts you get is controlled separately, by the notification level — a three-stop control that decides how good a match has to be before it is worth interrupting you. Both settings are on the Radar page, under Notifications.
Channels
Two channels are available, and each Radar has its own setting:
- Email — sent to your account email address. The full alert, with the listing details and a link straight to it.
- SMS — a short text with the essentials. If you have not added a phone number yet, you will be asked for one when you enable SMS. The number is stored on your account, not the Radar, so adding it once covers all of them.
You can enable both, or neither. A Radar with no channels still collects Pings in your dashboard — it just does not interrupt you. That is a reasonable setup for a speculative Radar you want to check on your own schedule.
Notification level
This is the dial that matters. Every Radar has one, and it decides how selective the alerts are:
Everything — “Ping me on every match. Best for active flippers who want first pick — expect ~15–30 pings a day on a busy territory.”
Confident — “Only pings the AI scores as a likely deal. Balanced — you’ll catch the good ones without noise.” This is the default.
Best only — “Reserved for exceptional finds — the ones worth dropping everything for. Expect 1–3 pings a week, tops.”
Start on Confident. If you find yourself ignoring alerts, move up rather than turning notifications off entirely — a Radar you have muted is a Radar you will forget you have.
Note that the level affects what gets sent to you, not what gets found. Every match still lands in your dashboard as a Ping regardless, so raising the level does not hide anything — it just stops the quieter matches from buzzing your phone.
Why alerts arrive in bursts
BigFlippa does not send one message per match. It sends the first match immediately, then starts a short cooldown. Any further matches found during that window are collected and delivered together as a single digest when it expires.
This is deliberate. A broad Radar in a busy city can produce a run of matches in a few minutes, and thirty separate texts is worse than one message listing thirty listings. In practice you get speed when it counts — the first find of a quiet period reaches you right away — without the pile-on when a category is moving.
Batched emails list every queued match. Batched texts list the first few and point you to the dashboard for the rest.
What is in an alert
Email gives you the Radar’s name, the listing title and price, the Opportunity figure when the AI has estimated one, the source marketplace, a trimmed description, and a button through to the listing on the marketplace.
SMS is compressed to what you need on a lock screen: the Radar name, the price, the Opportunity, and a link.
Both take you to the marketplace listing itself. BigFlippa does not sit between you and the seller — you contact them there, the same as if you had found it yourself.
When alerts do not arrive
Overnight. Radars only scan between 08:00 and 22:00 in the territory’s local timezone, so nothing is found outside that window and nothing is sent. See territory and radius.
When the Radar is paused. Paused Radars do not scan.
When there is no active subscription. Radars stop scanning entirely without one. See plans and limits.
When the level is set too high. Best only is genuinely restrictive — a week of silence is a normal outcome, not a fault.
When every source is switched off. The Radar shows a “No enabled sources” warning in your dashboard. See marketplaces.
Per-Radar and account settings
The channels and notification level are per Radar, so a Radar hunting a rare, high-value item can be on Everything with SMS on while a broad furniture Radar sits on Confident, email only.
Your phone number is on your account, shared by every Radar. Change it under Account.
